End of the Road? No.

In the moment of temptation, he failed.  It was a decision he regretted for the rest of his life.

David was called a man after God’s own heart.  Yet, when confronted with a lustful temptation, he gave in to it.  It led to the sin of adultery, murder, and then a cover-up.

During his cover-up time, he said, “When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.  For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me; - - - I acknowledged my sin unto thee and mine iniquity have I not hid.  I said I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord, and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.” Psalm 32:2-4 (KJV).

Although forgiven, the consequences of his sin remained.  The baby born of adultery died.  He had to fight wars continuously.  He experienced continual family strife.  His son raised a rebellion against him and then was killed.  David almost lost his throne.  God did not allow David to build the temple.  His sinful decision and action created suffering for him, his family, and his nation.

David had regrets for the rest of his life about what could have been if only he had been obedient.

Past sins or bad choices may make you redirect your life, but not make you quit. It is not the end of the road. David remedied that: he repented, and God did forgive him.  God restored fellowship and David lived for the Lord through the consequences.

Don’t let bad choices in the past keep you from serving God now.  Confess, repent, and draw nigh to God.  Give Him your very best for the rest of your life.
